Japanese Semiconductor Alliance to Start Production in 2007

According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the president of Advanced Process Semiconductor Foundry Planning, which is the planning company of a semiconductor alliance set up by several Japanese chip makers including Renesas, Hitachi, and Toshiba, told the newspaper that his company plans to start wafer production before the end of 2007, and initial production capacity will be approximately 10,000 300mm wafers per month.
